There is probably no more popular diet in recent times than the Atkins Diet. The guiding principle of this diet is the claim that eating fat does not necessarily make you fat. Weight gain is really the result of how your body incorrectly processes the carbohydrates you eat. The Atkins program is divided into three phases. The first is called induction and requires you to reduce your carbohydrate intake to 40 grams per day. The emphasis is on high quality protein and avoiding refined carbohydrates and junk food. The second phase adds 5 more grams of carbohydrates by allowing more fruit and some starches, like potatoes. The final phase is maintenance, which allows additional healthy carbohydrates, such as whole grains.
The Flat Belly Diet claims to target that unsightly belly fat that many dieters would love to loose. It requires a four day start up that replaces saturated fat with the healthy Monounsaturated Fatty Acids found in nuts, seeds, some oils and olives. The rest of the guidelines recommend an intake of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and a limited amount of red meat.
The Volumetrics Diet focuses on foods that fill you up, but don't have a large number of calories. It will not come as a surprise that the recommended foods for this diet are fruits, vegetables and foods that contain a high amount of water, such as soups. it is essentially a diet that lowers overall calorie intake.
The Weight Watchers program has been around since the early 1960s and has helped millions of people reach their goal weight. Weight Watchers offers a variety of plans that can be tailored to specific individual preferences. This plan emphasizes healthy lifestyle choices and long range weight loss. One of their most popular programs involves keeping track of points. Every food is assigned a certain number of points. You decide which foods to eat to reach the target number of points for the day. One of the real advantages of the Weight Watchers program is that it is continually updated to reflect the most recent advances in nutritional study and the changing way people live their lives.
The Jenny Craig Diet program is all about eating a healthy diet and training yourself to be always aware of portion control. The plan requires the use of pre-packaged meals that are designed to be healthy and low in calories.
The Zone Diet is based on the consumption of healthy carbohydrates, fats and proteins in a specific ratio: 40%, 30% and 30%, respectively. There is an emphasis on calorie control, with 500 calories as the limit for any meals and a 100 calorie limit on snacks.

Life today has changed significantly in regards to quality compared to the past. While we have gotten our hands on many commodities which facilitate our day to day activities and entertain us, we have also lost control with just about everything.

The most disappointing part is the loss of self-control when it comes to food. The fact is - most developed countries nowadays have alarming percentages of overweight and even obese people, which implies that these people are at all sorts of risks when it comes to their health. Some of them cannot even function properly, as they are always tired and low on energy.
The tragic part are the kids.
Inspired by a ridiculous woman who thinks her children are healthy because they act like piglets, I just have to say something regarding the matter. People who allow their kids to become obese at such tender ages are killing their own offspring. They really are.
Is it impossible for these people to see that food should not be the source of happiness for kids - playing with friends, socializing and all sorts of activities should be what children love. You should teach your kids to eat to live, not live to eat, eat and eat some more.
In my mind, the root of all evil in this modern world are horrible parents. They project their frustrations, careless dispositions and hateful attitudes to very sensitive children who absorb this like sponges. And if you allow them anything, they will deem it acceptable for years to come, and spread your destructive attitude further.

What are two critical things that are present in my health coaching practice? Oil and Water. Let me explain why…
Oil
I am not talking about cooking oil or the oil that makes a door stop squeaking, I’m talking about certified, pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and I can’t get enough of them. Not only are their aromas amazing, but the health benefits are also incredible and there are so many uses for them. Essential oils are natural, aromatic compounds extracted from seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of the plants. They have been used in many cultures throughout history. They are used aromatically, applied topically, and for most of them they can be taken internally.
Here are some of the most popular doTERRA essential oils and their benefits:
* CINNAMON - known for many properties but mostly for its cleansing properties and usefulness with aches and pains.
* EUCALYPTUS – it’s a key ingredient in cough and throat ointments. Used widely for both its calming and clearing properties and to ease breathing.
* FRANKINCENSE - possibly the most precious of the ancient oils: supports relaxation, immune system, and mood enhancements.

* LAVENDAR -
 calms anxiety and soothes emotions.
* LEMON – powerful aromatic, topical and internal cleanser, and can be compliment to many other oils. Diffuse lemon in a room to cleanse the air and uplift the mood.

* OREGANO –
 used as a cleansing agent as well as for digestive and respiratory support.
* PEPPERMINT - useful to ease breathing and as a digestive aid. Apply to neck and forehead with lavender to calm headaches.

* ROMAN CHAMOMILE –
 used widely for its calming properties especially to soothe the systems of the body and helps to support a healthy inflammatory response.

 
Water
We always hear that we need to drink water and for good reason. Water along with air is essential to human life. Some people don’t like to drink it but its too important not too.
If you don’t like plain water, here are some things you can do:
* Add 1-3 drops of doTERRA essential oils to your water- like lemon, peppermint, or wild orange

*
 Add slices of fruit
* Drink tea with lemon and/or honey
* Adding fresh lemon or lime juice
* Drinking plain hot water to de-congest your lymph. This is an Ayurvedic technique from Dr. John Douillard. To do it, you sip on hot water every 10-15 minutes throughout the day. Do it religiously for one day. If by the end of that day you are experiencing a dry mouth and are now thirsty for this once tasteless sip of hot water, this is a good indication you are dehydrated and your lymph is congested. If this happens, try this re-hydration therapy: sip hot water every 10-15 minutes for 2 weeks straight. Keep a thermos of hot water nearby to make it easy to follow this protocol.
* In addition to sipping hot water as part of the lymph moving re-hydration technique, try to drink 1/2 your ideal body weight in ounces per day for two weeks as well. For example, if you weigh 140 lbs, drink 70 ounces of water (almost 9 glasses) per day.

7. We can also use water to relax ourselves like in a bath (add essential oils to 1 cup of Epsom salt and add to bath)

9. Frozen water (aka ice) is extremely helpful in healing our sore muscles (I have oils for that too!)
Just a side note: Although I am passionate about both oil and water they don’t mix very well together. You should never use water to dilute the essential oil. Since water and oil do not mix, placing water over the essential oil can actually drive the oil deeper into the tissue increasing a feeling of discomfort. Placing a carrier oil (like fractioned coconut oil or olive oil) will cause the essential oil to mix well helping to relieve discomfort.

Developed by professor of Macromolecular Science - Akira Harada - and his team at Osaka University in Japan, a gel that expands and contracts when hit with light is believed to be able to work at cutting off the blood supply to a tumour, and also be used inside a person's body to pump drugs to specific locations at specific times.

Made from a polymer - hydrogel - and the two chemicals alpha-cyclodextrin and azobenzen, which both work in similar ways to muscle-contracting enzymes in the body, this gel, when exposed to ultraviolet light, expands, and when exposed to red light, contracts.
It was found that striking a gel-strip with UV light from different directions made it bend away from the light, only the irradiated surface absorbing the light, the other side not, so the strip bends. This expansion and contraction occurs because of the way the two added chemicals change when the light hits them. Cyclodextrin and azobenzene molecules are bound to each other and molecules that make up the gel. 
But when UV light disturbs those bonds, the shape of the azobenzene molecule changes as it breaks from the cyclodextrin, allowing the gel molecules to spread out, expanding the volume. Red light restores the original shapes of the molecules, making them bind tightly again, and shrinking the gel once again, a process that could be repeated indefinitely

The notion is that using the gel in a medical situation could possibly involve a doctor injecting it into a vein, before running an very thin optical fibre to the required location for delivering the light. Any gel laced with drugs could, in theory, release them at the sight as it expanded, foe example within a blood vessel feeding a tumour, to cut off the supply, though as yet reaction-time to light is still too slow, future experiments hopefully showing how to speed up this aspect of it.
